Hands-on Workshop on “Platform Engineering and Big Data Tools using MERN Stack” from MCA Students

21 February 2026 - 21 February 2026 SVGU
Event

The Hands-on Workshop on “Platform Engineering and Big Data Tools using MERN Stack” was conducted on 14th and 21st February 2026 at SVGU, MCA Lab 1. It aimed to provide MCA Semester-2 students with practical exposure to full-stack development and big data analytics using industry tools.

The sessions were led by industry experts Vishu Unjiya and Kalp Patel, coordinated by Prof. Ashutosh Trivedi. Support was provided by Jainil Patel and Hitesh Nathani, ensuring smooth execution and doubt resolution.

Day 1 focused on backend development and database integration using the MERN stack. Students built RESTful APIs with Node.js and Express.js, and worked with MongoDB for CRUD operations. They also implemented authentication using JWT, handled middleware, and managed asynchronous operations. By the end of Day 1, participants developed a secure backend system with database connectivity.

Day 2 covered frontend development using React.js, including components, routing, and API integration. Students integrated frontend and backend to build a complete full-stack application. They also explored big data concepts, working with real-world datasets and creating a basic analytics dashboard.

The workshop concluded with students presenting fully functional projects, effectively bridging the gap between theory and real-world application.
